Two things we've learned in 2020

1. Satan thinks people are stupid. I mean really, really stupid. So jaw-droppingly, unbelievably stupid that I'm having trouble expressing it properly without resorting to profanity.

2. So far, we're not exactly proving him wrong.

@Wm - Yes, indeed. I can't see any limit to the actual in-real-life stupidity of people in 2020: they will apparently believe anything. Even/ especially when contradicted by personal observation and common sense. This thing is commoner among cleverer people. A piece I wrote in 2009 about 'clever sillies' doesn't get it quite right; but struck a chord sufficiently that it ended up one of the 'most cited' and discussed of my later papers:
