The first section is titled "Picking the Celestial Lock," but the first sentence in that section reads, "My primary aim with this present piece is to give you a key to the stars." This is a little odd, since picking a lock means opening it without a key. If he's giving us a key, why pick the lock? This reminded me of the dream documented in "Reading with my eyes shut, Take 2," in which I saw someone using lockpick-like tools to try to "jimmy" hot water out of a water dispenser even though he could have simply pressed the red lever designed for that purpose. I wrote that he "was going through a lot of unnecessary trouble and ignoring the easy way" -- much like someone who picks a lock even though he has a key.
Eridanus's method, while certainly creative, doesn't exactly make for compelling reading unless you actually plan to use it yourself, which I don't, so I just skimmed most of the post. This illustration arrested my attention, though:
The captions reads:
When locating Orion using this method, one can sometimes end up mirroring the constellation itself. (Concerning the angle: while the ecliptic is ~65° from Polaris, Orion's belt is just over 90° from Polaris. So to find Orion himself, you would angle your second arm like this if he happened to be in this direction.)
The idea of a person's pose corresponding to that of Orion is one that came up on Bill's now-deleted blog in May 2024, in a post called "Orion and his most excellent pose." The post itself is no longer available, but I reproduced one of the illustrations in my May 2024 post "The Menelmacar mudra; the hot bee of Fatima; and spiritual experiences on Monday, July 22":
That post recounts a dream in which I was worried that I might have swallowed a "nanosnake," and a woman's voice was telling me urgently to do a mudra. She eventually specified that she meant the Menelmacar mudra (from an Elvish name for Orion), but before that
I tentatively raised my right hand in a half-assed "fear not" abhaya mudra. Nataraja (dancing Shiva) makes that mudra with the arm that has a snake wrapped around it, which I guess is what made me think it might be relevant to my "nanosnake" problem.
Nataraja dancing with a snake? Scrolling down from Eridanus's Orion pose picture, we soon find this one, in which Ophiuchus almost looks as if he is dancing:
The Menelmacar mudra -- a.k.a. Orion's most excellent pose -- also came up in my September 2024 post "Love pop, baby, love pop." I had randomly happened upon a picture of the mudra on /x/ and then found a rather similar image when I was searching for the B-52s song "Love Shack":
Revisiting that old post now, I found the name B-52s interesting. In my last post, "Fourth experiment ruined by haste," the Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress bomber was an important symbol. The band is named after the Boeing B-52 Stratofortress, which is obviously pretty similar. My B-17 post was about a card which I had thought was going to be the Tower but turned out to be the Four of Wands. In the B-52s post, I note that I found the umbrella Orion image at precisely 4:44. Looking at the image now, I see that it was posted at 16:41:16. Sixteen is the number of the Tower, and "four one" sounds a lot like "four wands." The Four of Wands has the same bright yellow background as the two images above.
Speaking of Hindu gods and snakes (as I was a few paragraphs back), I recently revisited my January 26 post "Year of the Snake," in which I took the poem "The Snake," which Trump likes to recite, and rewrote it to tell the story of Krishna and Aghasura as told in the Bhagavata Purana.
My reason for rereading that poem was some strange hypnopompic imagery I experienced a few days ago: Instead of cowherds, it was cows marching into the mouth of the serpent. Krishna was standing in front of the mouth smoking a very long pipe. As each cow approached, he would blow a smoke-ring that would encircle the beast's neck like a wreath, and this would protect it as it entered Aghasura's gullet. Upon waking more fully, I associated this imagery with Joseph Smith's statement that tobacco was "an herb for . . . all sick cattle" and also with these lines of Dylan:
And take me disappearing through the smoke rings of my mindDown the foggy ruins of timeFar past the frozen leavesThe haunted frightened treesOut to the windy beachFar from the twisted reach of crazy sorrowYes, to dance beneath the diamond skyWith one hand waving freeSilhouetted by the seaCircled by the circus sandsWith all memory and fateDriven deep beneath the wavesLet me forget about today until tomorrow
That phrase "beneath the waves" has been associated with cows before, in "Underwater Cowtown."
Note added: In Trump's poem, the woman takes in the snake. In my version, the snake "takes in" (swallows) Krishna. The Menelmacar mudra dream had to do with my possibly swallowing a snake.

William,
Part 1 of 2
Regarding the Orion hand gesture,
recall my previous comments and links regarding the Hidden Hand
behind the Beatles' brand. Theodore Adorno
being a very integral part of the hidden hand.
Recall my recent mention of the movie Frequencies and the connection
to Adorno and 'sound having ability to change Frequency.
The reason why I'm re-visiting those comments is because
of the Orion hand gesture in your post today.
Note on the cover of the Beatles album HELP!, Paul's
hand gesture is the same as the Orion hand gesture you've
posted here.
Orion, being the hunter also answers, IMHO, your question
as to why someone would have to 'jimmy' a lock if they
have a key.
My response :
note that for a hunter( Orion being the hunter)
each task from conception to capture is an
exhilarating quest testing the hunter's mental, intuitive, risk taking,
competitiveness and physical skills,
very similar to that of an alchemist and their quest
to turn lead into gold. Each step of alchemy requires
experimenting, testing ( jimmying ) the lock.
As I'm sure you know that for most hunters,
the hunt is more rewarding than the kill or capture.
I think that can be said for just about all challenges especially
when the reward is power i.e. a sense of accomplishment.
Also on the topic of snakes,
and if you haven't already please read my previous comment
about what I believe is a personal past life with the
Greek deity Melampus.
It's fascinating connections or at the very least
thought provoking and IMHO of course
especially Melampus' connection
with 2 snakes which licked Melampus ears according
to Greek mythology.
William,
Part 2
Reading that about Melampus made me think
not only my personal 2 Black Rat Snake experiences
which I've shared with you and believe supports
my past life connection theory,
but also the fact that all of my life I've had problems
with my ears.
Not hearing issues
but internally involving ear wax crystals.
I've had many many bouts with vertigo.
What's odd is that today,( Sept 6)
while typing this especially about the snakes
licking Melampus' ears and my personal ear issues
causing vertigo, it made me think of the
the 1958 Alfred Hitchcock movie Vertigo ( see trailer
link ).
Note in the trailer yet another ' falling down' theme ( Oscar
Man Overboard) and lo and behold The
Golden Gate Bridge!!!
I've seen Vertigo several times over the years,
but it's interesting that just today revisiting this
movie because of the Melampus' snake and ear
connection lo and behold the Golden Gate
appears again.
What's the odds?
I actually had forgotten
that the movie takes place in San Fran.
Also I found this article ( link below ) regarding
Orpheus Themes in Hitchcock's Vertigo,
which also has a snake connection.
Also Orpheus and his lyre having the power of SOUND
which sound through music can calm, excite, sadden
or destroy much like the Sirens in Greek mythology.
Sound is integral to our existence in this duality dimension
, no?
OM is Mom.
Interesting how sync fairies work to help remind
us that we're on the right path towards understanding
the big picture.
Also last but not least regarding Orion.
Please read my previous comment about
the 2014 movie Jack Ryan; The Shadow Recruit
especially my perspective that perhaps
you are The Shadow Recruit?
O-RYAN perhaps?
Copy and paste: asterisks mind, link below
"The origins of the name “Oryan” are somewhat ambiguous
as it appears in various cultures with slight variations
in spelling and pronunciation.
A commonly accepted theory posits that “Oryan” is
derived from the name “Orion,” which has its roots in
Greek mythology. Orion was a legendary hunter,
and his story is immortalized in the constellation
that bears his name. The name “Orion” itself means
***“rising in the sky” or “dawning,” reflecting a sense
of enlightenment and grandeur.***

William,
I linked the wrong wik page for HELP! showing Paul's
Orion's hand gestures on the album cover.
Here's the correct link.

You bringing up Krishna again is interesting, particularly in context of the B-17 and B-52 bombers.
When you wrote your earlier post on the B-17 Flying Fortress, I had looked into whether Krishna was connected, since he has come up. It was just a thought I had, and I think the reason why I thought of him was the atomic bomb, and the famous Oppenheimer quote of Vishnu-Krishna's line "Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds" (I will have an interesting link to at the end of this comment). I had wondered if it was the B-17 that dropped the bombs on Japan.
Turns out it wasn't. It was the B-52. So, it was interesting to see you now mention the B-52s and bring up Krishna in the same post.
Another interesting link is your mention of Orion in the context of that bloggers post titled "How To Find the Center of the Universe". I went back to my Orion posts, and noted that several months after writing the one you sourced here, I wrote another post about an experience coming across a book that I had given my oldest son called "Turn Left at Orion". In both titles, we have this notion of giving directions or how to find a place within our universe, and I had gone into that a little bit in that post. Further, I highlighted the names of the authors of that book, since they 'translated' into "The Great Comforter" and "The Beloved Judge", which I found relevant at the time. That "Turn Left at Orion" book would later factor into a dream as well.
Anyway, back to the B-52, bombs, and that Krishna quote. I just discovered that Oppenheimer's quote of Vishnu-Krishna is somewhat inaccurate. The actual Vishnu quote is not naming himself Death, but Time: "I am Time, the Destroyer of all".
I brought up the strange movie and links of The Big Lebowski a few days ago, and shared the link of the ending scene. Later, I had thought to look up the scene in which he introduced himself as The Dude to the other Mr. Lebowski. The clip that came up starts immediately with The Dude looking at himself in a Time magazine mirror, or a frame meant for people to look at their reflection and imagine themselves on the cover of Time.
It struck me at the time, however, that the scene made it look like The Dude's name or title was "Time". The title says "Man of the Year", and Time is right underneath it, made out to seem as if it were the name of this person (and it is written in Red, no less). Since Time has come up so heavily for me this seemed important in some way. So, seeing just now that the more accurate translation has Vishnu-Krishna introducing himself as Time tied back to that scene for me, and the whole concept of "The Dude/ Thy New Name Abides".
Here is the clip - the image is right at the beginning:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e5Xv-N9ssiw
I should also mention, or remind, why the concept of a "Destroyer' in relation to Orion, Time, The Dude, etc. is potentially so important.
One meaning of Destroy is 'To bring to an end".
One reason why the Orion symbolism was so important when I was connecting dots in relation to that symbol was what the Menelmacar meant in Tolkien's stories. It was both the symbol of the beginning and the end. The Elves first woke up under Orion in the beginning of their story, and Orion is a symbol of the Last Battle, in which Melkor and everything having to do with evil is overthrown for good. Varda had essentially painted Menelmacar in the stars as a symbol of hope to the Elves that in the end, good would win.
This ultimately tied into "Alpha and Omega", the Beginning and the End, and tying Menelmacor-Orion to Urion, another name for Eonwe, who I recently linked to The Dude (However, and in addition to this, the Elves linked Orion to Turin, a different character, who also seems to factor in somehow in the future, though I haven't guessed how).
Actually, both the Enola Gay and the Bockscar, the planes that dropped the atomic bombs, were B-29 Superfortress bombers. Still Boeing bombers, but not the specific models that have come up in the syncs.
The word in the Gita that can be translated as either "death" or "time" is kala, about which I have posted before:
https://narrowdesert.blogspot.com/2024/12/shiva-as-kala.html
Yeah, you're right. I totally remembered incorrectly on the B-29 vs B-52.
Another interesting Time connection from yesterday given the involvement of a watch in the Orion image and reference you pulled (and I guess the whole process discussed in that blog of how to find things in the universe).
The moon landing with Neil Armstrong has had some symbolic importance. Apparently, the watch that Armstrong wore was an Omega watch, which has since come to be called the Moon Watch. Omega has gotten a lot of marketing play on that, selling the model today as the first watch worn on the moon.
Omega first caught my attention given the Destroyer/ Time/ Alpha & Omega symbolism. But then I realized yesterday that the Moon Watch has an official name, which is Speedmaster. A "Speedmaster" seemed like a pretty good nod to the Swift Messenger, which is tied pretty directly into those moon landing symbols and the symbol of Omega itself.
