Might I suggest "Member of the Church at Temple Square"?

Babylon Bee

I've been told "at Temple Square" is an acceptable substitute for references to The Prophet Who Must Not Be Named.

Once the problem has reached the BB - a line has been crossed.

My own suggestion, derived from Harry Potter and the prohibition on saying "Voldemort" is "Church who must not be named".

Spoiler - in the last book, anyone who says the word Voldemort sets-off a magical locator alarm, and gangs of 'snatchers' appear instantly to disarm and arrest the dissident. Because only an enemy of the deep-state would dare to use the forbidden word...

Nowadays, this idea seems more like a suggestion than a warning.

Bruce, I used a similar locution in the original post, referring to Mormon as "The Prophet Who Must Not Be Named."

@Wm - I remember now - but on consideration it was not quite accurate; because there is no prohibition on naming the prophet Mormon; but instead naming the church named after him. The church cannot now be named, because the suggested name is not just unusable but an inadequate replacement.

It strikes me that if the Mormon church was an internal combustion engined vehicle (imperfect, but it did the job); "the church of President Nelson" is the electric car of names - it pretends to be a replacement, but cannot fulfil the necessary functionality.

Abolishing 'Mormon' without any adequate replacement is therefore very much a characteristic birdemic-peck/ 'Great Reset' move done on church members; a type of PSYOPS or gaslighting.

Too bad Joseph Smith had such a common surname. 'Smithan' might have been used, much like 'Lutheran', but non-Smithans would probably still need an explanation.

Oh, and one more thing. You like numeric coincidences:

African-American vs. Black

Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints vs. Mormon

--both have a 7:1 syllabic ratio.
