I suspect that at some point, they will integrate other algorithms with the "AI" functionality and so whenever a related question is asked, it will deploy a relevant algorithm and then switch back to the "AI".
On another topic, I think that to a large extent, IQ is a red herring. I don't mean that it's irrelevant, but what's significant is what people do with their intelligent. And what you look at times when things were saner, there wasn't this idea of an intelligence meritocracy, rather, people with knowledge and competence evaluated other people based on their knowledge and competence. And that works better because it is direct.
Also, if IQ tests were to be used as a social sorting system, many people would just stack the deck in various ways to give themselves and the people they favor an advantage. In fact, this already has happened. In New York, IQ tests were used to select children for prestigious preschools. So, parents had coaches train their children on the kinds of questions that were most coachable.
But the bigger picture is that intelligence isn't even valued in our society. If a society values knowledge and skill, then if people are capable of doing something, that is valued. People don't constantly bloviate about the "best and brightest" and the smartest people doing the smartest things and all the rest of it. People just get on with what they're doing, not throw words around. It's not about smart versus dumb, competent versus incompetent, it's that people use those words, but they don't mean what they meant even 10 years ago. "AI" is those trends pushed to an extreme.
