The original “pondering my orb” image was an illustration from a LotR RPG, showing Saruman using the palantir.
I had not been aware of the (apparently famous) Pondering My Orb meme - I daresay everybody attuned to such matters is thoroughly sick of it by now, what with so many unfunny perpetuations; but I did find the original version very droll in a surreal way.
