Blueface

We received a shipment of textbooks yesterday. Together with the books, the company had thrown in a special "History of Witchcraft" issue of National Geographic, on the back cover of which was this advertisement for a book called Super Simple Psychology (cf. my pet phrase "for complex psychological reasons," which comes from a newspaper explanation of why a man was eating 25 eggs a day):

The main image is a human face divided vertically in half. The left half is blue-green and shows the visible surface of the face, but the eye is featureless, with no iris or pupil. The right half is a deeper blue and shows what appears to be a stylized MRI of the brain.

My last post, "Richard Arrowsmith on 3i/ATLAS," included not one but two images of blue faces with featureless eyes:

Both the ancient Egyptians and Alan Moore are notorious practitioners of magic, so that's a tie to the "history of witchcraft theme." Here's the front cover of the magazine:

The witch on the cover is wearing a blue dress. The above image of a blue pharaoh with featureless eyes is a detail from this dress, which belongs to regular commenter Debbie:

I wrote all of the above this morning, before my morning classes. After the morning classes, during my lunch break, I read a few pages of Weird Scenes Inside the Canyon by David McGowan. On p. 270, I read about the original name used by the band that later became the Mamas and the Papas:

The new lineup, of course, needed a name, and John [Phillips] pushed hard for the occult-based Magic Cyrcle, a name by which the band was briefly known before ultimately settling on the Mamas and the Papas.

On the very next page was this:

[John Phillips' wife and bandmate] Michelle Phillips had a brief affair with Roman Polanski in London while Polanski was married to the soon-to-be-murdered Sharon Tate (during that same sojourn to London, Tate was reportedly initiated into the practice of witchcraft).

Although there are plenty of references to the occult in this book, which concerns itself with "the dark heart of the hippie dream," this is the one and only occurrence of the word witchcraft. Witchcraft is also the subject of the National Geographic magazine; the word dominates the cover of the original English version:

The version I received is all Chinese and does not feature the English word witchcraft. The only English on the cover, aside from the name National Geographic, is the title of the John William Waterhouse painting that serves as the cover illustration:

That's almost exactly the original name of the band that made Michelle Phillips famous. The difference is that John wanted to use the Greek-influenced spelling cyrcle. The Greek kyklos "circle" is also supposed to be the source of the name Ku Klux Klan (see "Klan movies").

Cyrcling back to Super Simple Psychology, that image -- the right half of a face, with a featureless blue eye -- is something I've seen before, and even on a book cover:

The half-face on Super Simple Psychology has a wire-frame pattern on it, somewhat suggestive of a web.

In a second added note on my last post, I noted a 4chan thread that featured George Costanza as Dr. Manhattan on Mars:

The /x/ post this was illustrating is a link to a collection of bootleg copies of The Gateway Tapes from Robert Monroe. If you do an image search for gateway tapes, two images consistently turn up. One is a thrice-bisected head with featureless eyes, and the other is a blue-green person in space:

Note added: I forgot to mention in the original post that the two-colored face on the cover of Super Simple Psychology corresponds quite closely to an image I posted back in December in "The lighter and darker Morpho menelaus butterflies."

It's appropriate that this butterfly with a Greek name should match the cover of a psychology book. The word psychology comes from the Greek word psyche, which means two things: (1) "soul" and (2) "butterfly." The link, noted above, to a book called Transformation is also relevant here. Transformation is a Latin word, of which the Greek equivalent is metamorphosis.

Oh, and speaking of book covers with a single blue eye:

Both Kafka and the George Costanza actor are Jewish, which ties in with the 4chan custom of highlighting Jews in photos by making them blue, as in this adapted/hijacked infographic from The New York Times:

Speaking of "Mamas," this morning I found in front of my door, apparently blown there by the recent typhoon, a rather dirty artificial carnation with a tag that said, in Chinese, "Happy Mother's Day 2025." Mother's Day is observed in May in Taiwan, as in many other countries, so finding that in November was just a bit odd.

 William,

VERY interesting indeed this
Blueface post.

Regarding your carnation ( could it be
in-carnation?).
Copy and paste:
"The term “carnation” is derived from the Latin
word “carnatio” or “incarnation,” which means
 “fleshiness,” possibly referring to the original
color of the flower or its flesh-like tone.
This is linked to the Latin word “caro”
or “carnis,” meaning ****“flesh.”:
~~~~~~~~~
  Mother may I?  ( see link for meaning)
Interesting the female energy came 'knocking'
on your door blown my big wind/air energy.
 Also regarding your BlueFace
post recall my previous comment about what I believe
 'no pupil' to mean and the reason why.
 In my recent  comment I connected my
 2004 Juantia dream about the
nosey next door neighbor in real life
 ( her name was Juanita) being
in a beautiful huge library with
beautiful cherrywood bookcases.
Juanita was sitting at a long polished wood desk
with books and papers scattered about in front of her.
I recall a green Bankers lamp on the table.
I walked over to where Juanita was sitting
confused to see her there
as I knew in real life, she was dead.
I asked: Juanita?
 She looked up at me.
There were no pupils in her eyes.
 She said "your mother
( who was also in spirit at the time of that dream)
wants you to use the name E. B. ".
Which I responded; Ok.
I wasn't afraid of Juanita in the dream thinking
she was a demon or something, I was just curious
as to why she didn't have pupils.
It's just recently when I commented
on your post about the illustration of
  the wide-eye Nigredo wearing
a turban ( Tulip ) and noticing
the Pharoh print on my dress with no pupils
 ( which I absolutely never noticed before) did I realize
what no pupils means symbolically.
Everything in the paranormal ( which includes our dreams
and syncs ) are symbolic.
That photo of my 1970's Krist Gudnason vintage
dress you posted was from the listing
on Ebay which is where I bought the dress
a few years ago.
I don't hang it on a mannequin waiting
for the summer solstice to wear it in a witchcraft
ritual...Oh My! LOL
William,
part 2
As you can see in the photo the print of
the Egyptian images on the dress is not clearly visible
at least it wasn't to me.
There may have been other pictures
on the listing of the dress close up, I don't recall, but
I certainly didn't buy it because of the pupil'less
pharaoh image.
 I bought it because I love vintage
 and I have  several very colorful Krist
Gudnason dresses I wear around the house.
It was the turquoise coloring and gold ribbon trimming
of that particular dress that attracted me.
I was 'coincidently' wearing that particular dress
when I saw the wide-eye Nigredo image on your post.
As I've shared before I personally don't
 believe in coincidences.
 My quest is to solve my puzzle pieces
which I believe connects to a big picture.
Because of your post I was able to
click my Juanita dream into its proper
place in the big picture which is this:
I believe the symbolic message of the dream
 means that I am no longer a student aka *** a pupil****
of the Mystery School Sacred Science Knowledge.
 Juanita  was sitting in a massive library
surround by books symbolic of knowledge.
 Knowledge from a vast spectrum of ideologies
 is found in libraries
 which through knowledge , I believe the soul evolves.
Thoth as did Odin knew of knowledge's power.
I don't ever recall dreaming about Juanita before
nor have I since. I believe Juantia was an archetype
of me although Juantia didn't look like me  in the dream
 nor in real life. She was actually more
of the covering of the Nigredo in your photo.
I'm light skin, Café au lait.
 In the Black community called ' yellow'.
  The Nigredo is symbolic of
the beginning of the Alchemical transformation.
When we evolve and raise our frequency
 we longer need to see with our physical eyes.
When our Third Eye opens, we are no longer students /pupils.
I believe this incarnation is graduation time for me.
I've come full circle.
Pisces is the 12th and last sign on the Wheel
of Time and Space.
 The Wheel being the Greek kyklos "circle",
as you made reference to.
To truly understand the paranormal I believe
that we must first transcend the illusion of labels
as far as the occult or the esoteric
meaning something demonic or witchcraft.
The Sacred Sciences are just a power source.
Nothing more, nothing less.
 Of course the Sacred Sciences can be manipulated
into Black Magic absolutely. All power sources
 in this duality dimension can be used for good or evil
and that especially includes knowledge.
And by the way, isn't there a One Eye symbolism
 and other Egyptian symbolism
 at the Mormon Temple?
William,
Part 1 of 2
I just wanted to add a bit more thought
your comparing the two blue dresses
suggesting a 'witchcraft' connection.
And also my perspective about
the too blue Jews.
 Blue is associated with and symbolic of
the sky, sea, and moon(luna).
 All three are symbolic of the
female which of course is also water energy.
A CAVE too is also female energy. Recall
my recent comment about personal connections
to Mammoth Cave and Sibert's Cave.
Copy and paste; etymology of the word cave:
"The word "cave" originates from the Latin word "cavea,"
meaning "hollow" or "enclosure."
 This term is derived from the Proto-Indo-European root
 "kaw-" or "ku-," which means "to hollow out"
 or *** "to make a hole".**
Thus, the etymology reflects the concept
of a natural hollow in the earth."
~~~~~~~~
 If you haven't already, check out my comment and link
about Admiral Byrd and the Hollow Earth and Mammoth
Cave.

 Also, if you haven't already watch a 2005 movie titled
Memoirs of a Geshia.
I absolutely love that movie and have seen
it many times. I decided to watch it again
several days ago Before reading your Blue Face post.

 As I've shared many times, since at the age
of 7, I've been fascinated with the Far East.
I truly believe that I lived many incarnations
in that part of the world.

Here is a brief story line of Memoirs of a Gesha on wiki:
"It tells the story of a young Japanese girl, Chiyo Sakamoto,
 who is sold by her impoverished family
to a geisha house (okiya) to support them
 by training as and eventually becoming
a geisha under the pseudonym "Sayuri Nitta."

Ra1119bee said...

William
Part 2
In my previous comment I misspelled Geisha,
my bad, old eyes are failing me ;-(

In Memoirs of a Geisha,
when Chiyo and her sister ( who was sold as well )
arrives at the Okiya and the woman who runs the Okiya
looks in Chiyo EYES and says: "she has too much water".
Chiyo eyes are blue-grey.

Here is another copy and paste about the
symbolism of Memoirs of a Geisha
where it concerns water: ( link below )
"In the Japanese Buddhist tradition, water is one
of five elements that make up the fabric
of the universe and the personalities of every person.

 Like water shifting to fit the shape of its
container, people with a lot of water
in their personality have a tendency
towards adaptability and flexibility.
Therefore, when characters in
Memoirs of a Geisha comment
 on how much “water” Sayuri has in her personality,
 they are linking her to these traits."
~~~~~~~~~~~~
In the movie trailer below look at all the blue green surrounding
Sayuri. She is always surrounded by water, rain and snow.
At marker/frame 1:20—-1:25 Sayuri is performing a dance.
Note the blue and the snow.
At the Okiya Sayuri's rival Hatsumomo, wears a lot of red.
Red symbolic of fire, passion and sun which are all male energy.
The sun is also yellow. ( fire tempered ).
 Water 'tames' fire.
However both luminaries ,  fire and water ( male and female )
are needed to exist. The Jews painted blue,
are more likely than not , symbolic of Lunar worship.
Jews worship at night, no?
Also and because everything has its dual nature
the siren ( female mermaid ) also traps and seduce.
A fish not only swims in calm blue waters but water
 can be extremely powerful and violent. Because
everything has its dual nature.
And to that end, check out the 1966 song
( link below ) Devil with the Blue Dress On,
by Mitch Rider and the Detroit Wheels.
 However and IMHO connecting blue with witchcraft
 and the two blue dresses, and the 'alien' painted
in blue, and the illustration of the blue female
emerging from the spiral in the Monroe illustration,
suggesting a demonic connection
shows, at least to me, a misunderstanding of symbolism William.
I think that's why the sync fairies blew the Happy Mother's
Day carnation to your door( the door symbolic of the yoni)
and the odd synchronicity of receiving
 the National Geographic magazine with a witch
wearing a blue dress on the cover.
 I don't think it was a coincidence.
I think the carnation message is wanting you to transcend
the 'flesh' i.e. the physical body wrapped in the
illusion and ego.
The ego chooses and takes a side of what's good OR evil
and in the paranormal, they're one and the same because
everything is connected.
The night before this post was made, I'd fired up Elder Scrolls Online and chose to roll a new character -- an Arcanist, a class I hadn't yet tried out. Their spells stem from books originating from the realm of a god of (often forbidden) knowledge. Coincidentally, the best-known NPC Arcanist happens to wear bright blue robes.
en.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Arcanists
en.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Azandar_al-Cybiades
I didn't have Azandar in mind while making my character, but I tried similar colours for her clothing before deciding to go more subtle. Note that her outfit is called the "Fashion Witch Ensemble"; the half-mask is a separate thing I picked out because it matched the swirly theme.
en.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Fashion_Witch_Ensemble
It's also worth pointing out that she's a Dunmer/Dark Elf. While their skins are generally called grey, sometimes blue tones appear as well -- sometimes to a considerable degree, like in the first link below. The blue half of Vivec takes it to another level, although he chooses to look like that.
That name --.the Greek name Alcibiades with the first syllable.separated to make it look Arabic -- made me think of Adam De Wan, whose Irish surname has the first syllable separated to make it look French. I looked up that post.
https://narrowdesert.blogspot.com/2023/10/adam-de-wan-tychichus-and-joan-of-arc.html
That old post emphasizes the phrase "armor of God" and the month of November, which is a link to this more recent post:
The half-mask -- a network of lines on the right half of the face -- is a pretty clear link to Super Simple Psychology and the Spider-Man poster.
William,
After taking a short nap, I was awaken by the thought
of why I felt it significant
to comment on the Memoirs of a Geisha
especially how it connects to the pupil'less  white eyes,
 the color blue (Luna female energy)
 and witchcraft Oh MY!
Coincidently  and out
of the blue ( ooops, is that evil witchcraft? )
 a thought came to me that there is a reason
why Geisha painted her face with white powder.
I then googled : why Geisha paints her face
white,  and lo and behold I think I found the connection.
Oshiroi makeup was an enigmatic mask (see link ).
Geisha's were not whores, they were artists and every artist
has a blank canvas.
Side note:  I had the thought about the Geisha BEFORE
I read Wandering Gondola and your comment about
masks today ( 11/15 )
Perhaps it was telepathy which some
may say that telepathy is demonic
 however I personally do not believe that
 the Sacred Science knowledge is demonic.
So, to continue on,
It then came to me the color alabaster
has connections to alchemy and in the Bible.
copy and paste:
"The story of the woman with
the alabaster jar symbolizes profound devotion,
repentance, and the recognition of Jesus' worthiness,
highlighting themes of sacrifice and forgiveness."
~~~~~

When we create a different persona,
as we ALL do, we do so by wearing a mask
 including donning distinctive clothing
of what that different persona represents.

A Geisha does that as does a Priest.
In other words; a  transformation occurs
which is what alchemy is.

Copy and paste: asterisks mine
In alchemy, albedo, or leucosis, is the
second of the ***four major stages
of the Magnum Opus, along with ****nigredo,
citrinitas and rubedo.

 It is a Latinicized term meaning "whiteness".
Following the ****chaos or massa confusa
of the nigredo stage,****
 the alchemist undertakes a purification in albedo,
 which is literally referred to as ablutio –
 ***the washing away of impurities.

 This phase is concerned with ****"bringing light
and clarity to  the prima materia (the First Matter).

Psychologist Carl Jung equated the albedo
with unconscious contrasexual soul images;
the anima in men and animus in women.

It is a phase where insight into shadow projections
are realized, and *****inflated ego and unneeded
conceptualizations are removed from the psyche.*****
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Note I asterisks the word Four. Four is the door
which we enter through to take us to another place.
The alabaster eyes without the dark pupils means
we have transcended the chaos
of the Nigredo stage of alchemy.
 Which means we are no longer a student/ pupil/child/naive.
I believe that's what my 2004 Juanita dream meant, which,
because of your recent posts, I now have the answer to.
So thank you.
 The Sacred Science knowledge in and of itself
is not demonic and yes it can be manipulated
into Black Magic.
 Knowledge ( the good, the bad
and the ugly ) is just a power source.
When we become afraid of something it's because
 we don't understand it and our ego immediately
 wants to categorize it into good OR evil (devil) when
in the spiritual realm , it's one and the same.
It's just a different mask.
William,
I do want to add, although alabaster is not a stark white,
which the Oshiroi makeup obviously is, the symbolism
and my point is: the white stone of alchemy.( see link )
A jar ( as in the alabaster jar) would be considered a
stone.
Copy and paste from wiki:
"Ancient Roman authors Pliny the Elder
and Ptolemy wrote that the stone used
for ointment jars called alabastra
came from a region of Egypt known
as Alabastron or Alabastrites"
~~~~
Copy and paste : link below white stone
"Among the many treasures concealed in the language
of alchemy, the white stone stands out not as an
object to be possessed, but as a metaphor for
*** transformation.
It signifies purity, insight, and subtle mastery.

This chapter continues our journey through Albedo,
where the alchemist, having stabilised the reflective mind,
begins to transmute the dross of duality
into the ****brightness of silver."
It is not perfection that is sought, but clarity.

Not sainthood, but understanding.

The Great Work of the alchemist is to
realize the philosopher’s stone—a transformation
that arises through tranquility and profound insight
into the subjective nature
of being.

By closely observing the operations
of the mind, the alchemist begins to uncover
the laws that shape experience, including karma
and the hidden forces that flow beneath
the surface of ordinary life.

****Central to this Work is the challenge
of transcending duality.****
~~~~~~
My response: true dat.
In order to understand the Sacred Science knowledge
we have to transcend this duality dimension's illusion.
The reference to brightness of Silver
as well as the color Blue-Grey is also used
to describe the Moon, and in Memoirs of a Geisha,
Blue-Grey the color of Sayuri eyes.
Copy and paste:
"Livid is a medium bluish-gray color.
This color name comes from the Latin
color term lividus, meaning "'a dull leaden-blue color';
it is also used to describe the color of
contused flesh, leading to the English
expression 'black and blue.'"
~~~~~~~~~~
In the paranormal, everything is interconnected.
It's the ego that divides and chooses sides.
