Pigs and the Grail

I'm not sure what this means, but it's a link that has appeared three times so far. This is from In Search of the Holy Grail by Teresa Anne Power (see "The modified Book of the Lamb"):

"The map says to dig here," says Little Mouse. Maggie is used to digging. She begins to root, using her snout to push into the ground. She suddenly stops.

"Did you find something?" asks Gaby excitedly. Maggie picks up the golden chalice and hands it to Little Mouse.

He exclaims in awe, "We've found the Holy Grail."

Maggie, in case it's not obvious, is a pig.

On the H page of Animalia, captioned "Horrible hairy hogs hurrying homeward on heavily harnessed horses" (see "The horrible hairy homeward-hurrying hogs of Hieronymus"), there is a strange pale cup which I took to be the Holy Grail. Only just now, finding a high-resolution photo to include in this post, do I see that it is in fact an hourglass.

I think it still counts as a Holy Grail sync, though, due to its shape, the fact that it is filled with a red material like wine or blood (sang real), and its juxtaposition with a crowned man and a fishing rod (the Fisher King ). It's not the first time an hourglass has been identified with the Holy Grail. (See "DD, hourglass, lemniscate, gate, time.") And it's on a page dominated by hogs.

Then there's "The more, the merrier," a series of couplets to add to "With?" One of these is:

Grinbad the Grailer found the Cup
And, posing with it, hammed it up.

The reason I had him find the Cup was because of his title "the Grailer"; and he "hammed it up" -- an expression meaning "to show expressions or emotions more obviously than is realistic" -- because his name is Grin-bad. But "ham" is also a pig reference.

In legend, Galahad was allowed to obtain the Grail because of his purity. The pig is the quintessential unclean beast, the symbol of impurity. Seems like it probably means something. What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.

Note added: I googled holy grail pig and found a toy that involves catching a fly in a jug.

Update: Less than an hour after posting this, and noting that pigs are usually symbols of impurity, not of the purity required to acquire the Holy Grail -- that was the specific word I used, purity -- I had a tutoring session with two sisters. One was wearing a Little Mermaid T-shirt, which is synchronistically relevant in its own right, and the other had a T-shirt that read: "Warmth, Purity and Innocence: Meaning of Daisy." In the Teresa Anne Power book, the pig that discovers the Holy Grail is named Maggie, which is a diminutive of Margaret. If you look up the meaning of Margaret, you'll be told that it means "pearl," which is true in terms of the ultimate Greek origins of the name. However, the proximate source for the English name Margaret is the French Marguerite, which means "daisy."

So a pig named Maggie is, as suggested by the line from Acts with which this post originally ended, a purified pig.

I love how it is a "Samson Mystery Pig". Samson meaning "Sun Child/ Like the Sun", and being a name that has come up in other contexts. Offering "Endless Amusement" seems interesting as well, particularly in context with Torture and the Fly.

In D&C 19, a revelation to Martin Harris, it speaks of of "Endless Torment", torment being a word that means "systematic inflicting of torture". After introducing this term, in the next couple verses, the Voice even calls this a "mystery".

Amusement itself is good word for both the context of the fly trap and perhaps this endless torment. Amuse can mean "beguile, delude... fool, tease, hoax, entrap... deceive, cheat" and other related words. Obviously Amusement here was meant by the advertisers for the kids playing with the toy pig, and in the sense of having fun or playing, but the word and this alternative meaning works very well here for the fly, as well, in that the fly is fooled and trapped by this Samson Pig.

But the fly eventually dies, so the amusement isn’t literally endless. D&C 19, too, goes on to explain that “endless” doesn’t actually mean endless. Rather, “Endless punishment is God’s punishment.”

And endless amusement? One thinks of Gloucester’s famous line in King Lear: “As flies to wanton boys, are we to the gods. They kill us for their sport.”

One also thinks of the story reported in the Synoptic Gospels about Jesus casting devils into the bodies of swine.

Right, and given the comparison of the Numenoreans to Flies in the past (and the Lord of the Flies as Pharazon), a fly or flies receiving "Endless Amusement" would tie in with the situation of Beings being put into a prison for a time, but not forever.

I'll put this here, because I don't know where else to include it, but you were featured again in one of my dream scenes from last night. I don't have a good sense on meaning, so I'll just relate it and any initial ideas I had in looking things up.

You were in a library (of course, I guess) and seated at a table. Or, more accurately, a man I understood to be you. In front of you was a tablet - something like a large iPad. On the screen were a series of words in another language. You were looking at the screen, and I could tell you were about to start translating the words. My thought was that, as a linguist, you might actually know the language and translate it with your own knowledge. However, to my surprise, you pulled out a small handheld device with a screen as well - like a smartphone. You ran the device up and down the screen like one would wipe an eraser on a chalkboard. The words and letters were drawn to the device like a magnet, almost like they were being vacuumed up into the device.

After all the words had been collected or "wiped", you looked at the translator-device to get the interpretation. My vision zoomed in over your shoulder so I could see as well. On the screen were three words: "I Like Ling".

You considered the phrase for a bit, but I don't think it was what you were expecting to see or it surprised you in some way. I wasn't sure whether the surprise was positive or negative by your mannerisms, but it clearly affected you in some way.

After I woke up, I was interested in what "Ling" might refer to. You know Chinese, so I wondered if Ling was meant to be a Chinese word. It seems a fairly common one, and seemed a decent bet. It turns out to mean quite a lot of things, though, so not sure where I would begin with it. So, I also looked into other options just to be comprehensive.

It is an English word that means "long, narrow fish". Again, not sure where to go with that.

I looked up Elvish, and it means "Snake". Given the imagery and references to Snakes and Snake Eyes, I wondered if Elvish then could be one of the word plays, but I'm not sure.

In your dream, Terry indicated who he liked and didn't like, and so the "I Like" phrase made me also wonder if this was tied to him in some fashion.

Lastly, in writing out the phrase after waking up, I realized that the first letter of the three words forms the word "ILL", as in sick, unwell, etc., but also per Etymonline "morally evil, offensive... marked by evil intentionals, harmful", etc. Not sure if relevant or, if so, which aspect of ILL would be meant.

Anyway, that is what I had with that particular scene. Not sure where to take it on my end. Maybe Ling is some reference of relevance to you?

Ling means "zero," which does seem like a link to the Terry dream. Terry had said, "I like Nemo," which is Latin for "nobody."

A different character also pronounced Ling is one of the words for "spirit." Most notably, the Holy Ghost is called Sheng Ling, with Sheng meaning "holy."

This double meaning of Ling ties in with an earlier train of thought of mine, connecting the Holy Ghost with the letter O. I'll post on that later.

My response: And this sounds exactly like my perspective
regarding the ego vs the soul and reincarnation.

The ego pleasures and protects the physical body
only. The illusion of this dual dimension provides
the 'amusement/entertainment, does it not?

In the illustration of Liza Lou trying to trap
the hoverfly inside of a jug which is a vessel.
Liza ( pet name for Elizabeth) is a Lizard.
EL-izabeth is an EL ( a Shining One) and she also
is a Beth.  Beth meaning house in Hebrew.

The jug is symbolic, much like the physical body,
of a vessel/carrier.

The physical body is weak, it can be crushed,
it's needy from cradle to grave. It stinks,
pees, poops, pains, ages, dies and rots.
And like all things in physical matter,
the physical body can be and often is controlled.

The soul doesn't want to be here in this 'carnival/
jungle/matrix duality dimension illusion
having to play the game.

The soul feels " trapped" when its incarcerated
(incarnated) in physical body, always having to fight
with the ego and everybody else's ego.
Everything is a fight here in this dimension.
This is a warring planet.
Which is why I believe that everything is political,
in some way shape or form.
Sex, Power and Money.

Very thought provoking the King Lear's quote :
“As flies to wanton boys,
are we to the gods.
They kill us for their sport."

I  absolutely agree with this statement and something
I've been sharing, albeit not as eloquent,
in my gazillion comments.

Humanity has always been our devious, manipulative,
'evil' opponent's sport/amusement
and they always place their bets on our ego
to win.

In this dual dimension game ( soul vs ego) the soul's objective
is to balance the ego and learn and teach the lessons
needed to earn the right to once again be one with
the divine.

The game we're in challenges us to circle the wheel
 (12 grades via the Zodiac
Signs) in the least amount of 'time' possible.

Our opponents know that through temptation,
( which they provide)
our ego 'wins' 99 percent of the time, and with each
incarnation and ego win, the soul loses
and must reincarnate and continue to fall back down
and forced to play the game
endlessly for opponents' amusement AND
alchemical experiments.

Recall my many comments and perspective
regarding America and especially the American Negro
being alchemical experiments.
E. Pluribus Unum

There are many movies that make this point very well
regarding humans being 'played' for sport.
A few are :The Netflix  series Squid Games
the 2022 Netflix series 1899 ( see trailer)
and especially the very compelling 2012 movie Hunger
Games ( see trailer link )
In the Hunger Games video listen for the number 24
which of course is 42 backwards.
42 being in the sync stream as of late.

Truth be told, and IMHO, We ALL are,
and have always been, played.

Whether we agree with it, understand it,  or
are aware of it..... or not.
