The book I read immediately before this one was entirely different in character: Laeth's Powerless, a realistic novel set in Portugal in 2025. But, though any more detailed explanation would constitute a "spoiler," it contains a scene that parallels the above-mentioned Arthurian story remarkably closely.
Come to think of it, "head underwater" imagery also played a central role in Laeth's first novel, Phantasia.

William,
part 1 of 2
Yet another possible sync connection!
How in the world ,you may ask, could I have a severed head
puzzle piece??
Ahhhh.... and therein lies the intrigue of the paranormal!
Backstory:
Today ( June 14 ( Trump's birthday) after responding
to NLR's comment on another post, I decided to
listen to one of my youtube playlists. In that
playlist is a song by the 1970's English band Ace
titled: How Long.
I then decided to wiki Ace as I was just curious
if any of the band members were still alive present
day. While reading Ace's wiki page, something
got my attention which was this : "The band formed in
December 1972 in ***Sheffield as
"Ace Flash and the Dynamos",
but soon shortened the name to "Ace."
~~~~~~
The name Sheffield got my attention because
in the late 1980's I had a very odd dream.
In the dream I was a White woman, probably
in my early 30 or 40's. I think the time line was probably
in the late 1800's because of the clothing I
was wearing. I recall I was in a den because
there were many books in beautiful wood built in bookcases.
A White man ( who I felt was my husband)
was sitting at a large wood desk.
On the desk was a green and brass 'bankers lamp'.
I felt that we were of means ( wealthy).
I was holding a glass which I believed to be
an alcoholic drink. I was laughing at my husband
goading him as I felt that I was pregnant with
another man's baby. As I turned to go out of the
door, I could feel a hard thump on the back of
my neck which I felt was the banker's lamp.
I felt that I had been killed. I woke up rubbing
my neck.
For some reason and I can't recall why
butI felt that this took
place in a city/ county? named Sheffield.
Keep in mind that this dream was in the 1980's so I couldn't
research online and I don't recall how I came across
information about Sheffield Virginia but I did.
At the time in the 1980's Marshall and I were taking
yearly vacations to see my brother on the East Coast,
so after the dream ( which I became obsessed with )
I suggested to Marshall that we should visit some
of the plantations in Virgina
including Monticello as I felt that in the dream
I was wealthy and possibly there could be a connection
with that part of the country.
Unfortunately I didn't really find anything on our vacation
exploring plantations that I felt was connected to the dream.
I did absolutely believe that the dream was a Past Life remembrance.
William
Part 2
All of these years from time to time I tried to research the dream
with no luck until today when I read the Ace wiki article and
decided to try searching Sheffield England ( note
that Ace were from England ) and lo and behold I hit the jackpot!
The article is a bit long, but check this out:
Copy and paste:
SAMUEL HOLROYD MURDERED HIS WIFE
WALKLEY ****SHEFFIELD MAY 1899
"I banged her head against the wall and she fell
down upon the floor" On May 15, 1899,
the Sheffield and Rotherham Independent reported.
The article states that the wife was an *** alcoholic'
and that the couple had a 'comfortable life'. The husband had his
own French Polishing business.
Hmmm, I thought...there's the wood connection!
There is even a Jeeves connection. Wasn't Jeeves in the sync
stream recently?
The article continues:
"Police Sergeant ***Jeeves received the information,
and got to the house shortly before seven o’clock. "
And this is really intriguing: "When an examination was
made of the dead body, it was found that there
were two wounds on the**** back of the head.***
One, about three inches long, and of a
considerable depth, was a jagged cut,
on the right side, slanting upwards;
the other was about an inch and a quarter in length,
and a straight cut."
~~~~~~~
So...what are the odds William?
What's the big picture of all this you may ask?
IMHO finally finding this information after over 40
years is fascinating and validates at least for me,
that many of my beliefs about
the paranormal is right especially where it concerns
transcending time and space.
IMHO reincarnation is a remembrance. That remembrance
could be from a dream yes, but it could also be from that which
we are attracted to for no obvious reason.
Much like my 'remembrance' of an Asian incarnation
because of an Ed Sullivan performance in the 1960's.
I personally don't think another person can tell us
what we were in a past life. The past life reader
in 1974 didn't know me. He read my soul.

William,
I forgot to add that the wife's name was Ellen Holroyd
and the husband's name was Samuel.
Also interestingly the Prosecutor in Samuel's
criminal trial surname was Banks.
Recall I mentioned that in the dream I was hit
on the back of my neck which I believe to have
been a green and brass Banker's Lamp.
Crazy!
William,
I just noticed that there is a photo of a large red brick house
at the end of this article which was the house of the Holroyd's.
I didn't see it at first.
The article also mentioned that the wife was 45 and the husband
was 50. The article also states that the husband owned
several properties in that area so they were 'comfortable' financially
which I felt in the dream.
I was shocked to see the bay window!. In the dream I was in the den
and looking at my husband sitting behind a large wood desk.
Behind him was a beautiful bay window with old glass.
In the photo the bay window is on the right side of the house.
The windows and the frames look to have been updated of course.
The sync fairies be real busy on this one.

William,
I forgot got to add this interesting connection that has connection
to water. Your post having to do with underwater.
The Holroyd's house address is Yeomans Road.
quite striking. i hadn't even connected the detail in powerless with phantasia. i guess i have themes. and speaking of those, also involving water, and beheading: yesterday i had an idea for a novel about saint Paul. i don't want to say much, but water is an important theme and not only because of baptism. anyway, i was doing some sparse reading around Paul, and found a wiki article about an apocryphal text that connects it to Marcellus, and the mystery around the name:
"The Acts of Peter and Paul is a pseudepigraphical 5th century Christian text of the genre Acts of the Apostles. An alternate version exists, known as the Passion of Peter and Paul (Passio sanctorum Petri et Pauli), with variances in the introductory part of the text. Some versions have been written by a certain Marcellus, thus the anonymous author, of whom nothing further is known and is sometimes referred to as pseudo-Marcellus. "
From Wikipedia:
"A legend later developed that his martyrdom occurred at the Aquae Salviae, on the Via Laurentina. According to this legend, after Paul was decapitated, his severed head bounced three times, giving rise to a source of water each time that it touched the ground, which is how the place earned the name "San Paolo alle Tre Fontane" ("St Paul at the Three Fountains")."
I'd be very interested to read a novel by you about St. Paul. you obviously have a special affinity for him.
The CJCLDS did a very good job with their video of his last moments.

The floating head and Jay Leno got me thinking about the Head in C.S. Lewis' That Hideous Strength. At first I thought I thought I may have thought of it only because we are dealing with severed, disembodied heads, and executed men having committed crimes against women, but there are some other connections. One has to do with the name.
The Head originally belonged to a man named Francois Alcasan, but he was also referred to as "Bluebeard". Given the link to Jay Leno both as a floating head and the color Blue, this was interesting. Further, Jay Leno has also been linked to the Blue Jay or a Blue Bird (meaning a bird that is the color blue, not bluebird which is different in type from a Blue Jay). Blue Bird is phonetically similar to Blue Beard, and you can imagine someone with a different accent saying Blue Bird like Blue Beard. An Elf from Tolkien's stories, for example, would pronounce Bird exactly like Beard.
Apparently, Bluebeard is an actual name/ title from a French fairy tale.
@WmJas, i found the video a little cheesy tbqh. (btw, in our house we now say your name as Whim Jazz, make of that what you will; you may or may not know that before it became jazz, is was named briefly as jass; anyway). i would love to write the Paul novel, but i don't think i'm ready. and a quick tarot spread i did (i got a for my birthday) told me (i think) that i should focus on the other book(s) ideas i have (essentially following in the same vein as Alice and Powerless). i love saint Paul, and want to do him justice. so i probably should get more experience before i tackle it, and also i still have no idea about how to do evolution of consciousness in historical fiction. how to fit it. and lastly, immediately as i thought of the saint Paul idea, i thought of an earlier idea i had about a novel about the last days of Joseph Smith. it has been in the back of my mind all this time, and i thought i had the idea last year (on JS's death anniversary), but it turns it was already two years ago! anyway, the theme of last days is here again.
unrelated: do you have any good recommendations on books about the tarot, specifically how to use it, meanings, etc, rather than history.
thank you and sorry for the very long and weird comment.
Bill, the historical Bluebeard was Gilles de Rais, a companion of Joan of Arc who later (I hope it was only later!) became a serial killer.
Laeth, I only have books on history and symbolism to recommend. I'm self-taught on the practical aspects, as I became interested in divination only as an afterthought. If you only read one Tarot book, it should be Tomberg's Meditations on the Tarot
oh yeah i read that one and liked it, but less than five years later i can't say it had a lasting influence on me. the only thing that i think often is how the internet in many ways turned the unknown friends into a known ones, in some respects at least. anyway, thank you. i'll improvise as always. probably better anyway.
btw, i didn't say but Whim Jazz is definitely a term of endearment. just in case it sounded like anything else.
Obviously anything jazz-related is going to have positive connotations coming from you.
yeah i guess that's true aha.
