Taking stupid to a new level

Some weeks ago, someone posted a photo of a sign at a pool in, I think, New Zealand, warning people not to wear a face mask while swimming due to the increased risk of drowning. And I thought, What kind of moron would even think of wearing a face mask while swimming?

This past Saturday, seven poor schmucks in Taipei were fined for swimming without wearing masks.

If you'd just wear masks, we wouldn't have to pixelate you!

They could have to cough up as much as 500 US dollars a head. If that seems completely insane, you have to keep in mind the gravity of the situation.

I added that blue line at the top. It represents the average number of pneumonia deaths per day in 2019.
