Smoking dream

Never in my life have I smoked — not tobacco, not cannabis, not even salmon or brisket. A beehive or two, I suppose, but that’s about the extent of my smoking experience. I respect and support smokers but have never been one myself.

So last night’s dream kind of came out of left field.

I dreamt I was strolling through a small garden in the courtyard of a housing complex. I was with a girl who looked to be about nine years old, and the reason I was there was to keep an eye on her until her parents got back.

I was chain-smoking extremely long cigarettes, well over a foot in length. They reminded me of the joss sticks used in traditional Chinese worship, but they were definitely cigarettes, not incense. I burned through these jumbo cigs surprisingly quickly, and as soon as one was finished I’d start smoking another. I was a little unsure of the best way to deal with the large quantities of ash I was producing, but in the end I decided the best option was to flick it into the fountain at the center of the garden.

In the dream I didn’t think there was anything strange about smoking so heavily so close to a small child. Eventually, though, the girl turned to me and said (in some language I cannot identify but could understand in the dream), “We’ve only been here ten minutes, and you’ve already smoked four of those things!”

I realized she was right, felt a little embarrassed, and said, “You’re right. This [the fourth cig, which I’d almost finished] will be the last one.”

“I’ll make you honest,” said the girl, and immediately I woke up. My impression was that she had directly caused me to wake up as a way of forcing me to keep my promise and not smoke any more of the dream-cigarettes.

William,

The Marlboro Man introduced in 1924 became symbolic of the Fire
of the Industrial (Iron) Age .

During the Industrial age, ( especially the 1930's 40's and 50's )
it was the Marlboro man who became an archetype
of all those who worked and worked hard by
the sweat of their brow.

Hard work not only in agriculture
or cowboys forging the Wild West, but the Marlboro Man
was symbolic of workers in factories using their hands
( opposed to using the mind ) which using the mind is air energy
and air energy is a very important requirement of survival
in the upcoming Silicon (Data) Age ).
Unfortunately, The Marlboro "Fire' man will no longer be needed
in the Silicon Age.

Note in the video clip below of the 2000 movie ; Cast Away
the protagonist Charles " Chuck'
played by Tom Hanks says: " The air got to it!

The number 9 (which you guessed to be about the age of the
little girl ) is about Endings. Recall my recent comments
about the number 9.

Many times, Water ( Little Kings ( Beer ) and Fire were intertwined
and significant part of the Marlboro workers lives especially on the
Week( weak) ends.

Note that Castaway Chuck is surround by water.

Also Interesting to note that Phillip Morris , the company who produced
Marlboro decided upon its Red and White color scheme.

And speaking of red and the number 4 .... you wrote:
"This [the fourth cig, which I’d almost finished]
will be the last one."
~~~~~~
The last one? Symbolic of The End of the Industrial Age,
which humanity is on the precipice of ( IMHO)
Also Note that the Rubedo is the Fourth
and FINAL process of alchemy ( see link ).
copy and paste ( see link )
"
4.) Transformation (Rubedo):
“Know, all you seekers after this Art, that unless you whiten,
you cannot make red, because the two natures are nothing
other than red and white.
Whiten, therefore, the red, and redden the white.”
~Turba Philosophorum
The process of transformation begins with the concept
of the rubedo, also called “the reddening.”
This is the “final” stage of transpersonal self-overcoming.
It’s where the alchemy of psychology becomes a fountainhead.
It’s where the unity of opposites—shadow and light,
anima and animus, beast and sage— becomes transcendent,
provident, and mercurial. It’s where the Self archetype becomes
the process of Integration itself.
The reddening is a bleeding into blackening.
It’s the life-death-rebirth process lived
through in real time, in each moment, with each new breath.
It’s both a rising out of falling and a falling into rising,
both a chaos creating order and an order creating chaos'
Also the Fire Bird is the Phoenix.
And last but not least, check out James Taylor's
Fire and Rain.
Note the lyrics:
Just yesterday mornin', they let me know you were gone
Suzanne, the plans they made put an end to you
I walked out this morning and I wrote down this song
I just can't remember who to send it to
~~~~~~~
Note the reference to the name Suzanne in the lyrics
especially this part: ' the plans they made put an END to you.

Do recall my many comments about The Golden Gate
in Jerusalem and the Third Temple.
The Golden Gate is also known as the Shushan (Susan) Gate.
( link below )
The Shushan Gate (Shaar Šušān) was the eastern gate
of the Jewish Temple. ( see link )

The name Susanna means The Lily.
Recall I shared my Oct 12, 2008 dream I titled; Suzy
In my Suzy dream, Alex Jones told me that I was a Suzy.

Maybe relevant or maybe not, so just for your consideration.

I thought more about this dream recently, and it could be that the cigarettes represent Stones. Stones are portrayed as sticks, at least I've made that connection, and your description of the cigarettes certainly has them come across as stick-like.

Further in support of this hypothesis, Stones can apparently be 'smoked', which I had the Anor Stone being smoked back in the fall of 2019. This would tie in well with your using the sticks as cigarettes one smokes.

In the Olympic closing ceremony symbolism, I referenced the 4 olympic rings which were missing the 5th and last. That last ring was buried, and suggested a tie to the missing Rose Stone.

https://coatofskins.blogspot.com/2024/08/golden-voyagers-tom-cruise-from-france.html

This would map to your having smoked 4 'sticks' but saying the 4th was your last one and so either not being able to or choosing not to smoke the 5th (which also links up well with the 5 boxes of Hidden Treasures cereal Patrick needed to eat).

Importantly, the girl's comment about making you honest can be interpreted in a different way than you have. The original use of honest, if you look it up on Etymonline, has more to do with being respectable, virtuous, and honorable than anything else.

In other words, she may have been saying "I will make you honorable or regarded with honor" in that phrase. A possibility at least. And it may be the 5th cigarette that does this (and yes, my mind leans that way because it maps well with the story in my own mind, so I am biased in my interpretation - freely acknowledging this).

But ascribing that kind of definition to the comment of making you honest does also seems to tie back to the ideas around the "True Song of the Wandering Aengus", as well.
