Makanda

In my last post, I quote the passage in Colin Wilson's Shadowland where Typhon tells Niall that he plans to introduce him as Colonel Niall despite the fact that he is not a colonel. A few paragraphs later, Niall's spider companion -- heretofore known only as "the captain," reveals his name for the first time:

Typhon placed his mouth close to Niall's ear. "If you don't mind, I'll introduce you as Colonel Niall. Most of the men here have military rank."

"Of course. Whatever you think best."

"And I'll describe you simply as an envoy from the spider city. Telling them the truth would make everyone ask you how it came about. Or would you prefer that?"

"Of course not." Niall was only too glad to avoid attention.

Typhon asked the captain: "Do you have a name we could use?"

"Among my own people I was known as Makanda."

"Then let it be Captain Makanda."

Today I clicked on an /x/ thread about the upcoming solar eclipse and found this:

William,

I believe that this eclipse is going to serve as a harbinger
for VERY INTERESTING TIMES ahead. Politically, Socially, Economically
perhaps Geographically but more importantly Spiritually.

Marshall and I have our glasses ready.
We had planned to go into Dayton to see it,
as we live more southeast and the path for the totality is closer
into Dayton, but I've been reading how some smaller towns in the path
are suggesting people stock up on food and water for 2 weeks!!!! so
Marshall and I are staying home.

Factoring in Pluto in Aquarius, I believe
we (humanity) are on the precipice of a VERY VERY interesting shift.

Going by the post title, I was expecting to find an M/W reversal here. I never cared hugely for superhero movies (I tired of them years before Black Panther and "Wakanda", IIRC the last Marvel film I paid to see was Guardians of the Galaxy) but that's the power of cultural osmosis -- in this case with some help from the likes of /pol/, if you know what I mean.

Well, that word Makanda is just begging for an Elvish translation.

For the apocalyptically minded, you have a very straightforward translation of "Land to burn" (ma = land or region; kanda = to blaze). A future burning was specifically cited in both the Kirtland Temple's dedicatory prayer, as well as Thomas Marsh's blessing.

For the Xanadu minded, you also have the straightforward "Together in one to shine white" (ma = together, in one; kanda = to blaze). Here blaze, per etymonline, can mean to shine or be white. The things that are together can be Beings reunited back in Xanadu, and it could also refer to the Stones as they link together (Eclipse/ New Moon Shining).

And "Ma" can mean other things like Hand, Excellent/ Good, which could lead to other meanings. Even "anda", if we split the word differently, could be another form of "ando", which means gate or door.

A few possibilities.

William,

Just found this information that is very thought provoking
as it connects to my previous comments about the eclipses and yesterday's March
14 syns regarding the Twilight Zone's episode The Parallel.
In particular the scene where Major Gains
speaks about the Parallel Universe(s) as "Twins".

Also recall that I mentioned the tornado outbreaks here in the Midwest
and lo and behold on the Nightly News tonight ( March 15 ) in the news coverage
about the tornados, the news reporter actually mentions: TWIN Tornados in OHIO.
(see link)

The worst of the damage(and 3 fatalities) was in Logan County Ohio, which coincidently
Logan County is on the path of the eclipse (see link)
Another hard-hit area was Indian Lake.

Also, interestingly there is an unincorporated community in Logan County
called; Little Jerusalem
